Commitment Process
We at, SEEK Homeschool Families, recognize that we are not a fit for every family. We are a group in which parents are required to serve on campus - teaching, and volunteering in key positions - one day a week for 30-weeks each school year. Additionally, we ask for a further dedication of time to the organization and implementation of social engagements. We use the commitment process as a time in which your family can get to know all about us, and we can get to know more about you, before asking for a commitment.
What does the commitment process consist of:
An Information Meeting. Prospective parents are asked to attend an information meeting early in the Spring semester so they can learn about us from one of our current members, go through the handbook, and ask questions.
A Visit. After attending an information meeting, all prospective families are required to visit our campus while we are in session so they may take a tour of our facility seeing first-hand what we do and how we do it.
A Background Check & Family Abilities Survey. Following the family visit, prospective families will be sent the background check authorization form to be filled out by the parent who will be on campus regularly. Completed forms should be returned to SEEK Homeschool Families with the $25 fee as soon as possible. In addition to the background check, parents will be asked to take a short child safety training course online and pass a quiz. Finally, parents will complete a Family Abilities Survey. Note: Families who do not pass the background check or complete and pass the required child safety training will not move forward in the process.
• An interview. The last step in the family committment process is the in-person family interview. This is an opportunity to ask clarifying questions about how we function, and for us to get to know our prospective families better!
• An invitation to join! At this point, families will be notified that they have been accepted, or asked to apply again in the future. Because we have limited spots and specific needs, we are not able to take all who apply. Those invited to join will be sent an official application and must submit it with the $300 family commitment fee. Parents will then be assigned to their volunteer positions, students invited to register for classes, and families asked to submit supply feed.
